The preferred LLC is similar to the AB Partnership. This vehicle allows some shareholders to receive a preferred return, typically in exchange for giving up some equity appreciation potential. The preferred LLC may be used as a substitute for a participating mortgage when an investor wants a preferred return while also receiving some voting control, equity participation, or other benefits.
